Dorodani Series of Sabo Dams -Stabilization of Torrents and Hillsides and Rejuvenation of Vegetations-

History of Drodani Series of Sabo Dams Development

Initially, Toyama Prefecture was responsible for developing Drodani Series of Sabo Dams as a prefectural sabo project. However, they were completely destroyed by a massive debris flow due to a heavy rainfall in 1929.
In 1930, sabo works were commissioned from Toyama Prefecture to the Ministry of Home Affairs, and 22 dams were completed in 1933. These dams were damaged by repeated debris flows and repaired several times. Currently, there are 20 dams where vegetation is recovering.
