Mitsumata Area Sabo Measures (Yuzawa Town, Niigata Prefecture) The necessary surveys are being conducted for sabo measures to protect towns and villages located along the Kiyotsu River, as well as Route 17, from debris disasters.	A Series of Groundsels on the Uono River (Yuzawa Town, Niigata Prefecture) Maintenance work is underway on sabo facilities to protect important transport networks, including the Kan-etsu Highway and the JR Jo-etsu Line.

Engineering Works on Imokawa River Channel Blockages (Terano, Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture) With the aim of supporting restoration and reconstruction work in the Imo River Basin, sabo works are being carried out to ensure that the region is made safe from debris disasters, in co-ordination with a regional reconstruction program.

Shimo-Oritate Hillside Works (Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture) On February 10 and 12 2004, countermeasure works are carried out to deal with the collapse of a slope at Shimo-Oritate in the former Yunotani-mura Village.	Naeba Sabo Dam (Sakae Village, Nagano Prefecture) Maintenance work is in progress at the sabo dam that protects settlements and facilities downstream, including a nursery and a clinic.
